Decisions

Today, a situation presented itself. A man was crossing a road, but only half the road was clear, so he waited in the middle for the cars to pass. As I was driving in the lane closest to him, the vehicle in the lane next to me started an unexpected lane change. Luckily (for me and the pedestrian), the driver quickly realised his mistake.

This got me thinking. What if he didn’t? What if I couldn’t get out of his way fast enough and hit the pedestrian? Did the pedestrian decide to die this way?
No. The pedestrian decided to cross the road. He used the information at hand, assessed his immediate situation, and decided it was safe. I’m sure once he stood there realising the danger of this decision, that he would have loved to go back and change his mind.
We all make decisions in our lives. We make these decisions based on information at our disposal whilst in the situation we find ourselves in. The situation now, will never present itself again. While you are in the situation, you make the best decisions you possibly can.
Moral: Never regret any decision you have ever made in your life. It was the best decision you could have made whilst in that particular situation.
